Aave V4 Proposes Isolated Lending Market for Bitcoin-Collateralized Stablecoin Loans

Aave V4 has introduced a proposal to establish an isolated lending market allowing institutions to borrow stablecoins using Bitcoin (BTC) held in custody as collateral. The initial collateral proposed consists of Bitcoin managed by Anchorage Digital. Aave Labs announced this on the Aave DAO governance forum on April 14, suggesting the creation of dedicated hubs and spokes for this feature. Under the proposal, the collateralized BTC would remain with Anchorage during the loan term, while borrowers would receive stablecoins based on that collateral. Chainlink's CustodySync will integrate custody balances and liquidation statuses from the custodian into Aave's on-chain system. The proposal outlines a process where community feedback is gathered before proceeding to a Snapshot vote, and if approved, it will undergo final approval through an AIP (Aave Improvement Proposal).
