Altera Pushes for Over $2 Billion IPO in Private Filing

Intel ($INTC) and Silver Lake are jointly holding Altera, a programmable chip manufacturer, which plans to submit a confidential IPO filing to raise over $2 billion (approximately 2.694 trillion won). Reuters reported on October 10 that Altera is preparing to file its IPO application confidentially within the tender period, with potential listing this year, though the timing and scale of the offering may change. Reuters also noted that Silver Lake has contacted Barclays, Citigroup, JP Morgan, and Morgan Stanley as potential lead managers for Altera's IPO, but final roles and order have not been determined yet.

Altera produces programmable chips used in data centers, telecommunications networks, industrial equipment, aerospace, defense, and artificial intelligence applications. Intel acquired Altera in 2015 for approximately $16.7 billion (about 2.2489 trillion won). According to Intel's filing, Silver Lake acquired a 51% stake in Altera in September 2025, while Intel retains the remaining 49%.
