Aptos Adjusts Gas Fees and Staking Rewards as APT Supply Cap Set at 2.1 Billion

Aptos has proposed a tokenomics revision that increases gas fees by 10 times while lowering staking rewards from 5.19% to 2.6%. The protocol's maximum supply for APT is now capped at 210 million tokens. Aptos Foundation stated that APT used as transaction fees will be burned, and the fee increase aims to boost burn volume. The changes aim to limit token issuance through reduced staking rewards and a supply cap. The proposed adjustments are being advanced through governance procedures, with the 210 million APT supply cap already approved and implemented on the governance page.
