BabyDoge Acquires LimeWire, Pushes for AI-Powered Creative Platform

BabyDoge (BABYDOGE), a meme coin project, has acquired LimeWire, formerly known for its file-sharing service, and is transitioning the platform toward an AI-powered creative ecosystem. The transaction amount and specific terms remain undisclosed.
LimeWire announced on September 15, KST, through a press release that co-founders Julian Zehetmayr and Paul Zehetmayr have transferred management to Abel Czupor and BabyDoge. The acquisition was revealed via LimeWire's announcement.
The deal combines a meme coin project with a former internet brand aiming to build an AI-based creative platform. Under new leadership, LimeWire aims to create a platform where creators can directly control their data and intellectual property. Abel Czupor stated, 'We will build a platform where AI works for creators, not corporations.'
LimeWire, which grew as a P2P file-sharing service in the early 2000s before ceasing operations due to copyright lawsuits, relaunched in 2022 as an NFT marketplace and content platform. It currently operates decentralized storage and AI-based content tools. LimeWire’s official materials clarify that it is unrelated to the original Lime Wire LLC or Lime Group LLC.
The company emphasized maintaining its creator-focused approach post-acquisition. However, legal structure details and specific contract terms remain undisclosed. LMWR will serve as LimeWire’s utility token for decentralized storage and AI tool usage, though token economics and integration with BabyDoge's ecosystem are not yet defined.
Market reaction has been limited. According to CoinGecko, BabyDoge price fell from $0.000000000377275 on September 11 to $0.000000000374983 on September 13. LimeWire’s market cap dropped from $7,837,870 to $7,398,750 during the same period. While these figures show a decline, it cannot be definitively stated that the acquisition announcement caused the price drop.
The deal positions BabyDoge to bridge its existing meme coin ecosystem with creator-focused services. LimeWire aims to expand its business into content creation and distribution platforms using AI tools and decentralized storage. A key focus for AI-powered creative platforms is balancing content efficiency with control over data and intellectual property rights, which LimeWire emphasizes as creators managing their own data movement and content distribution.
BabyDoge and LimeWire plan to release a new product roadmap soon. Details on acquisition cost, legal structure of the acquiring entity, LMWR token issuance and usage, and AI service launch dates will be clarified in future announcements.
