Balancer Proposes Phased Protocol Shutdown Amid Struggling Revenue Recovery

Balancer has proposed a phased shutdown of its protocol operations following limited success in its revenue recovery plan. According to the governance forum proposal, liquidity pools will be transitioned to withdrawal-only status starting October 30, with a snapshot vote to be held from September 25-29. If approved, existing BAL buybacks will be canceled and the DAO treasury will be distributed proportionally to BAL holders after deducting shutdown costs. The proposer noted that despite the April revenue recovery plan, sustained revenue growth has not materialized, with protocol revenue declining to approximately $30,000 (₩40.41 million) in August from $97,000 (₩130.66 million) in June. The DAO treasury is currently valued at a minimum of $9 million (₩1.21 billion) based on current prices.
