Balancer Protocol Proposes Shutdown and Treasury Distribution to Token Holders

The Balancer (BAL) protocol governance forum has proposed halting operations and distributing a $9 million treasury asset pool to token holders. Current discussions are ongoing, with a snapshot vote planned for September 25-29 local time. If approved, BAL holders will be able to burn their tokens starting May 2027 to receive a proportional share from the treasury. Additionally, liquidity pools will transition to withdrawal-only status from October 30, with operators notified of the shutdown by October 31.
