Base Developer Announces Conditional Transactions Coming in This Month's Cobalt Upgrade

Base is set to introduce a conditional transaction feature in its upcoming Cobalt (Cobalt) upgrade, scheduled for late this month. The functionality will execute only when certain on-chain conditions are satisfied, according to Jon Roethke, Base's chief developer evangelist, as reported by Masbit on May 15.

The conditional transactions will be submitted in EIP-2930 or EIP-1559 format and activate upon fulfillment of designated chain conditions. However, the Cobalt upgrade remains listed on official documentation as a planned phase for Mainnet and Sepolia set for September 2026, with no specific activation timeline provided.
