Bitcoin (BTC) surged past $77,000 as U.S. spot ETF markets saw funds flowing out of Ethereum (ETH) and XRP products. Price movements and ETF flows diverged on a daily basis. On U.S. time September 17, approximately $39.24 million (KRW 54.2 billion) flowed out of Ethereum spot ETFs, marking the third consecutive day of outflows after $224 million (KRW 309.3 billion) and $141 million (KRW 194.7 billion) on previous days, according to CoinDesk. Ethereum's price rose about 2% to around $2,470 during the same period. XRP ETFs saw outflows of roughly $5 million (KRW 6.9 billion), reversing a slight inflow from the previous day.

Conversely, Bitcoin spot ETFs recorded an inflow of approximately $159 million (KRW 219.6 billion). Bitcoin rose over 1% to $77,216, while Ethereum and XRP also climbed about 2%. Major altcoins also advanced: Solana (SOL) gained around 5% near $105, and Binance Coin (BNB) increased roughly 4% to about $750. The asset with the highest daily gain was ZECASH, which rose approximately 10% to $1,488. A U.S. spot ETF for ZECASH saw inflows of around $47 million (KRW 64.9 billion), with its launch scheduled for August 25, 2026, on NYSE Arca.

SEC filings noted that the ZECASH ETF tracks the ZEC spot price and surpassed $500 million in assets under management as of September 8. The filings also reported cumulative monthly inflows exceeding $230 million since its launch. On the macro front, the U.S. Federal Reserve raised its target range for the federal funds rate by 0.25 percentage points to 3.75%-4.00% on September 16, citing persistent high inflation.

Spot ETF inflows and outflows reflect net capital movement into or out of a product. While ETF flows often align with underlying asset prices, daily discrepancies can occur. On this day, Ethereum and XRP prices rose while their ETFs saw outflows, whereas Bitcoin's price rise coincided with ETF inflows. Over the past 30 days, Ethereum ETFs have maintained over $1.5 billion in cumulative net inflows, compared to Bitcoin ETFs at approximately $2.5 billion. The divergence between daily and longer-term trends highlights the need to distinguish short-term fluctuations from broader investment sentiment.
