Bitcoin's ATH Gap Approaches One Year as Cycle Structure Shifts

Bitcoin has approached 365 days without reaching a new all-time high (ATH), according to an analysis focusing on evolving cycle structures rather than price direction.

On April 13, blockchain media CoinPost reported analyst DarkPost noting Bitcoin's period without surpassing its ATH would soon reach one year. The key insight is the shift from previous cycles where ATHs typically followed halving events. This cycle shows a potential deviation from that pattern.

Data from CryptoQuant and Axel Adler Jr was used in the analysis, with DarkPost projecting the next halving around April 2028. The focus has shifted to how quickly markets reach new highs rather than the halving itself.

Historical data shows the time between ATHs is decreasing: 1,180 days from 2014-2017, 1,094 days from 2017-2020, and 849 days from 2021-2024. DarkPost observes cycles are shortening.

While this suggests future ATHs could come faster, DarkPost cautioned that relying on recent three-cycle data doesn't guarantee the four-year pattern will continue. The market now watches both the extended period without an ATH and the decreasing interval to new highs as key indicators for the next cycle's structure.
