Bitcoin Could Reach $100K in 2027 Amid Fiscal Concerns

Bitcoin (BTC) may reach $100,000 (approximately KRW 138.1 billion) by 2027, according to analysis suggesting that concerns over government debt and fiscal sustainability could support Bitcoin's price. Matthew Sigel, head of Ark Invest's digital assets research, stated in a CNBC interview on October 18 that Bitcoin could reach $100,000 next year. Blockbeats reported Sigel's comments, noting that worries about government debt and fiscal sustainability are supporting Bitcoin prices.

Sigel explained that Bitcoin's volatility has decreased by approximately 50% compared to four years ago. He noted that the current market structure differs from past cycles, with governments burdened by excessive debt, allowing Bitcoin to maintain relatively stable momentum. Earlier analysis suggested U.S. fiscal concerns have driven Bitcoin toward behaving more like gold.

Sigel also mentioned that option markets show put options (betting on declines) priced higher than call options (betting on rises). However, he noted that increased short-covering due to U.S. Treasury buyback programs has created a favorable environment for Bitcoin buying pressure in the near term. Sigel believes policymakers are unlikely to fundamentally address unsustainable fiscal conditions, and further easing of market liquidity could push Bitcoin prices higher.

Ark Invest also reported growing institutional interest in Bitcoin from investment advisors and sovereign wealth funds. The firm expects the stablecoin market to continue expanding. While the U.S. has seen progress with the GENIUS bill as a regulatory framework for stablecoins, banking industry lobbying groups are pushing to renegotiate related regulations. Meanwhile, the Clarify Act, which aims to define jurisdictional boundaries for virtual asset markets and regulators, has stalled in the U.S. Senate.
