Bitcoin Could Reach $500,000 by 2030, Says Ric Edelman

Bitcoin (BTC) could reach $500,000 (approximately 6.9 billion won) by 2030, according to Ric Edelman. Edelman, founder of Edelman Financial Engines, likened Bitcoin's current stage to Amazon in 1999, when investors debated whether to invest in the company. During a June 17 interview with Bitcoin Magazine TV, he stated that just as Amazon faced skepticism before becoming mainstream, Bitcoin is still in a phase where its inclusion in portfolios remains contested.

Edelman emphasized adoption rather than investment structure, noting that while Amazon was a revenue-generating business, Bitcoin is a decentralized digital asset. He argued that widespread adoption could eventually make holding Bitcoin a standard part of investment portfolios. His $500,000 projection assumes Bitcoin reaches about 1% of global assets under the current allocation trend.

Edelman clarified that this figure is an estimate based on capital allocation and adoption growth, not a confirmed target price. Actual prices could vary depending on asset allocation size, timing, and market demand. He also noted his outlook is relatively conservative compared to other market forecasts, though he did not specify exact timelines or price paths.

Edelman has studied Bitcoin since 2013 and made his first investment in early 2014, maintaining that digital assets can be a component of diversified portfolios. His firm's recent holdings show it owns more Bitcoin spot ETFs than Amazon shares as of June 30, with $34 million (approximately 48.1 billion won) in Bitcoin ETFs versus $25 million (about 35.4 billion won) in Amazon stock. However, Bitcoin ETF holdings represent only about 0.012% of the firm's total portfolio.

The focus of his projection centers on adoption rates and asset allocation rather than price itself. Edelman stressed that actual investor allocations may differ from his assumptions, making $500,000 a long-term outlook based on potential adoption trajectories similar to Amazon’s path, which depends on future institutional and individual portfolio inclusions.
