Bitcoin ETF Cumulative Inflows Drop 13% from Peak to $55 Billion

U.S. spot Bitcoin (BTC) ETF cumulative net inflows have dropped to approximately $55 billion (about 75 trillion won), down 13% from the peak of around $63 billion (approximately 86 trillion won) recorded in October 2023, according to CryptoBriefing. The cumulative net inflow had fallen below $50 billion before recovering but has not reached the peak level again.

Farside Investors reported that U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a daily net outflow of $151.8 million (about 208 billion won) on August 16, following a $450.4 million (approximately 617 billion won) outflow on August 15. The cumulative net inflow across all products as per Farside Investors' tally stands at $54.781 billion (about 75 trillion won). While daily flows show outflows, the overall cumulative trend remains positive.

Among individual products, BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) leads with $63.976 billion (approximately 87.6 trillion won) in cumulative net inflows, while Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) recorded $10.077 billion (about 13.8 trillion won). In contrast, Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) has seen cumulative net outflows of $27.845 billion (approximately 38.1 trillion won).

From late August to early September, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw about $3.8 billion (around 5.2 trillion won) in inflows over three weeks, pushing assets under management above $101 billion (about 138.4 trillion won). However, large outflows followed from mid-September onward. Total Bitcoin holdings across all ETF products now stand at approximately 649,000 BTC.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved spot Bitcoin exchange-traded products (ETPs) for listing and trading on January 10, 2024, with the first day of trading beginning the next day. The SEC specified that its approval was limited to ETPs holding Bitcoin. Spot Bitcoin ETFs serve as a bridge between traditional securities markets and the cryptocurrency market by providing exposure to Bitcoin price movements through brokerage accounts.
