Bitcoin ETF Outflows Surge Amid U.S. Clarity Bill Stalemate

Bitcoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) experienced a $450.4 million outflow on July 16, the largest single-day withdrawal since late June, according to CoinTelegraph.

The outflow coincided with a decline in Bitcoin prices and stalled progress of the Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate, which has been a key cryptocurrency regulatory proposal. After recording a $159.9 million inflow on July 15, ETFs saw an immediate reversal, marking the largest outflow since June 24 when tech stock selling pressured risk assets and led to Bitcoin spot ETF withdrawals.

Outflows were concentrated in major products: Fidelity's FBTC saw $214.8 million leave, followed by BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust with $161.7 million, Grayscale's GBTC at $44.1 million, and Ark-21Shares Bitcoin ETF and Bitwise Bitcoin ETF recording $17.4 million and $12.4 million outflows respectively.

Bitcoin traded at $75,700 after a 2.5% drop over the past 24 hours, with the $450 million outflow occurring amid the price decline. The reversal of yesterday's inflow was notable, particularly as Fidelity and BlackRock products led the outflows.

Political factors also weighed on market sentiment. The Clarity Act, a major cryptocurrency regulation proposal, has stalled in the Senate, prompting U.S. crypto industry players to shift focus toward regulatory agencies for responses.
