Bitcoin & Ethereum ETFs See $592M Outflow as Senate CLARITY Bill Fails

Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) spot ETFs saw a total outflow of $592 million on September 15, recording their largest daily net outflows in months.
The outflow followed the failure of the CLARITY Act in the U.S. Senate, which led to price declines and capital leaving the funds.
Ethereum ETFs recorded their worst single-day outflow since January 30, losing $141.47 million. The previous worst session was on March 19 with a $136.4 million outflow.
Bitcoin ETFs posted their worst session since June 25, losing $450.33 million. Last week saw a $462.7 million outflow, the largest since early July following three weeks of strong buying pressure.
Trading volumes mirrored these trends: Bitcoin ETFs recorded $4.35 billion in trading volume, well above their 30-day average of $2.74 billion. Ethereum ETF volumes also exceeded double their usual levels.
Among altcoin ETFs, Hyperliquid (HYPE) was the only product to see an outflow, losing $3.89 million for a total September decline of $18.04 million. Four funds saw inflows: Solana (SOL) led with $1.35 million, while Tron (TRX), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Hedera (HBAR) each recorded under $0.5 million.
Despite the daily outflow, both ETH and BTC ETFs remain in positive territory for September, with Bitcoin ETFs up $17.1 million and Ethereum ETFs up $37.4 million year-to-date.
