Bitcoin's Fourth Fisher Strength Cross... Could It Signal a Bottom?

Bitcoin (BTC) has shown its fourth consecutive bullish signal on the monthly Fisher Transform indicator. Past three crosses coincided with the bottom of bear markets, but analysts note this signal alone does not confirm a trend reversal. The crossover was identified in August analysis, with the actual crossing point at approximately -2.26 based on July's indicator value.

Analyst Willy Woo noted on X that 'the Bitcoin bottom has been captured three times without fake signals. This cross is the fourth on record.' The Fisher Transform converts price movements statistically to read trend strength, with a bullish signal occurring when the Fisher line crosses above its delayed trigger line. The indicator uses log-based transformation to correct for assets lingering at extreme values beyond typical statistical ranges.

Historical monthly crossovers have coincided with the end of Bitcoin's bear markets. In late 2022, the indicator dropped to -3.83 before reversing direction, followed by a reversal in both indicator and price movement. This has led some to interpret this signal as potentially marking the end of a long-term downtrend. However, Woo cautioned that while historical patterns match, the crossover itself does not definitively predict future price direction.

Woo explained prices may not reverse immediately after such signals, noting instances where bullish crossovers were followed by sideways movement or further declines before reversal. He also highlighted that during bull markets, fake signals increase as speculative forces influence price action, whereas at market bottoms, reduced speculation allows for clearer price reversals.

Weekly charts also show a potential strengthening structure in Bitcoin. After reaching a low of -2.85 in late December 2023, the Fisher Transform has formed higher lows while Bitcoin prices made lower lows—a bullish divergence indicating possible trend reversal. Similar patterns emerged during the final six months of the 2022 bear market, where indicator lows rose as prices continued to fall before reversing.

Earlier reporting noted that this fourth low signal does not immediately indicate a trend reversal, emphasizing the need to monitor both price movement and long-term investor fund flows. At Bitcoin's July 1st low of around $57,000, typical buying pressure was insufficient, with Woo noting only some large investors accumulating at that time. Thus, whether this fourth Fisher Transform bullish crossover leads to an actual cycle bottom depends on subsequent price action and demand recovery.
