Bitcoin Maintains Mild Long Position Ahead of Fed Decision Amid Volatility Watch

Analyst Theophiluspep noted that Bitcoin (BTC) futures markets are showing a mild long position bias as the U.S. Federal Reserve prepares to announce its September monetary policy decision.
The cryptocurrency is trading between $76,500 and $76,900, with Binance Bitcoin perpetual contract funding rates maintaining a slight positive rate of approximately 0.006% based on recent settlement data, indicating long positions are paying short positions slightly more.
While the current level is not considered excessive, high open interest (OI) at Binance suggests market positioning remains tilted toward bullish sentiment without extreme leverage buildup. The analyst warned that volatility could spike sharply depending on the Fed's outcome: a dovish result might support further Bitcoin gains by maintaining existing long positions, while a more hawkish-than-expected decision could trigger leveraged position liquidations and increased downside volatility.
The analyst emphasized monitoring post-Fed funding rates and open interest movements, noting that rising funding rates combined with expanding OI would signal stronger market confidence in upward momentum, whereas declining rates and shrinking OI might indicate long liquidation and reduced leverage demand.
