Bitcoin Market Cap Surpasses Tesla Again at $1.63 Trillion

Bitcoin (BTC) has surpassed Tesla ($TSLA) in market capitalization to reach $1.63 trillion (approximately 2,262 trillion won), with Tesla's market cap standing at $1.44 trillion (about 1,995 trillion won). As of 10 p.m. on the 19th, Bitcoin rose 5.05% over the past 24 hours while Tesla stock declined by 0.53%. The gap between the two assets is approximately $19.2 billion (about 2.66 trillion won). Block Media reported that Bitcoin has returned to the top 15 in global asset market capitalization rankings at this time.

Bitcoin's market cap now exceeds major assets including Meta Platforms and Vanguard S&P 500 ETFs. Bitcoin broke through the $81,000 level since last Friday, marking its highest price since May 2026 but still below the all-time high of $126,000 recorded in October 2025.

Market capitalization is calculated by multiplying asset price with circulating supply or outstanding shares. Bitcoin reflects circulating coins and spot price, while Tesla reflects stock price and outstanding shares. Therefore, although both can be compared in the same unit, their calculation methods differ. Bitcoin's market cap is influenced by exchange prices and circulating supply changes, whereas Tesla's is affected by stock market trading and outstanding share movements.

The ranking between Bitcoin and Tesla has swapped multiple times historically. Tesla purchased $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin in early 2021, which helped Bitcoin surpass a $1 trillion market cap as its price rose. Tesla sold 75% of its held Bitcoin in Q2 2022. Since then, the rankings have fluctuated based on movements in the crypto and stock markets. In January this year, Bitcoin's market cap dropped to $1.5 trillion due to falling prices, causing it to fall behind Tesla. This time, a combination of Bitcoin price gains and Tesla stock declines led to the ranking reversal.

Block Media cited steady inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs and global asset market uncertainty as factors driving Bitcoin's rise as an alternative asset, though this is the media's interpretation. The recent ranking shift reflects differing movements between Bitcoin prices and Tesla stock, with rankings expected to change again based on future price and stock fluctuations.
