Bitcoin Moves to Exchanges as Clarity Bill Fails in US Senate

Following the US Senate's failure to advance the Clarity Act, 23,200 Bitcoin (BTC) worth approximately $1.79 billion moved to exchanges, according to U.Today on April 16 (local time).

The sell-off was driven primarily by short-term holders, with data from CryptoQuant showing a significant increase in BTC moving from loss zones into exchanges.

The US Senate rejected the cryptocurrency clarity bill 49-50, falling short of the required 60 votes for advancement. This led to increased trader anxiety and a sharp decline in major cryptocurrency prices over the past day.

Exchange inflows surged within a single day, with Bitcoin deposits rising from about 19,400 BTC to 33,100 BTC, a 71% increase. During the same period, Bitcoin's price fell from around $78,000 to approximately $74,000.

Short-term holder sell-offs reached their highest level in the past month, with Binance seeing the largest influx of over 10,000 BTC in one day. Kraken also saw its daily inflow jump from 2,000-3,000 BTC to over 6,000 BTC.
