Bitcoin Quantum Computing Threat Response Efforts Accelerate

Bitcoin's response to the quantum computing threat is taking shape with P2MR and SHARINCS at its core, according to Ublockchain. The current draft stage BIP-360 aims to implement Pay-to-Merkle Root (P2MR) to reduce risks associated with long-term exposure of public keys while providing a foundation for future transition to quantum-resistant signature methods. Blockstream Research's SHARINCS is designed to work alongside this upgrade path as a SHA-256 based hash signature method that can help users transfer funds before quantum computers pose a real threat.
