Bitcoin Rebounds to $77,500 as Short Covering Drives Gains, CoinFeed Says

Bitcoin (BTC) rebounded to the $77,500 level following short-covering activity, while ZEC surged over 130-200% in a month, drawing attention in the altcoin market. CoinFeed's market briefing noted that easing uncertainty around U.S. monetary policy has contributed to cryptocurrency price recovery, though regulatory ambiguity and slowing institutional buying may constrain further gains.

CoinFeed explained that Bitcoin's rebound followed the rejection of the Clarity Act and the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike impact, with short-covering driving upward momentum. However, short-covering alone does not indicate sustained new capital inflows. The briefing cited Goldman Sachs' Kaplan, who assessed market concerns over the Fed's tightening stance as excessive, while noting potential unwinding of yen carry trades following Bank of Japan's rate hike.

Despite price recovery, CoinFeed emphasized a gap between price rebound and demand recovery, pointing to declining institutional buying interest in Bitcoin as a holding asset. Sustained spot demand will be key to determining the strength of the rebound. ZEC rose 130-200% over a month, attributed to Ironwood Network upgrade and major investor holdings disclosure, signaling renewed interest in privacy coins. However, CoinFeed cautioned that such individual coin surges may not necessarily translate into broader sector capital inflows.

Ethereum (ETH) saw buying activity as 11 wallets sold a total of 602 BTC while purchasing 18,780 ETH. While this could reflect shifting asset allocation by large investors, CoinFeed noted it is insufficient to conclude a market-wide trend shift. Dogecoin (DOGE), meanwhile, remained stagnant at $0.0813, failing to break above the $0.09 resistance level and trading below clustered moving averages, highlighting contrasting altcoin dynamics.

Regulatory concerns persist, with Coinbase's policy VP citing regional banks' lobbying as a factor behind Clarity Act rejection, though this remains an individual statement without independent verification. Institutional price outlooks remain relatively optimistic: CoinFeed referenced Matthew Siegel of Pantera Research predicting Bitcoin could reach $100,000 next year based on government debt and fiscal instability, while JPMorgan positively assessed its potential relative to gold. However, these views must be weighed against declining institutional buying activity.

CoinFeed identified key technical levels for Bitcoin at support of $75,000-$77,000 and resistance of $78,000-$80,000, noting these are analytical ranges as of the report's publication date. Sustained Bitcoin gains will depend on continued buying pressure post-short-covering, alongside potential altcoin strength consolidation, spot ETF flows, and further institutional buy/sell activity.
