Bitcoin Reclaims $80,000 Amid Fed Rate Hike and Clarity Act Setback

Bitcoin has reclaimed the $80,000 mark despite setbacks including the Senate’s failed vote on the Clarity Act (U.S. virtual asset market structure bill) and a Federal Reserve interest rate hike. Market sentiment improved due to expectations of continued rulemaking by the SEC and CFTC, alongside falling oil prices.

As of 11:23 a.m. KST on September 19, Bitcoin was trading at $81,378 (approximately ₩111.82 million) on Binance USDT market, up about 6% from the previous day. The Kimchi Premium, indicating price differences between domestic and international exchanges, stood at -1.06%.

Despite concerns over potential U.S. monetary tightening and Iran conflict escalation, markets showed rebounding trends. Oil prices eased from midweek highs, reducing inflation worries as investors focused on strong U.S. economic data and corporate earnings. However, long-term interest rates remain elevated, with 10-year Treasury yields approaching 5%.

The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark rate by 25 basis points to a range of 3.75%-4.00% during the September FOMC meeting—the first increase in over three years. While inflation remains high, 16 out of 18 Fed officials projected further hikes this year, with the median forecast for year-end rates rising to 4.1%.

Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows of $462.7 million last week, though some recovery was observed on September 17 as inflows resumed. Analysts suggest the Clarity Act setback may be short-term, with ongoing regulatory clarity expected from SEC and CFTC through existing authority.

Market analysts note that breaking above the $81,600-$83,000 resistance zone could signal further gains, while failure to hold $80,000 might trigger a correction toward $73,600 or lower. Analysts at FXPro and Coinbase Research highlighted key levels for short- and medium-term price movements.
