Bulgaria Parliament Passes Law Requiring Crypto Service Providers to Report Customer and Transaction Data

Bulgaria's parliament has passed a legislative amendment mandating that virtual asset service providers submit customer identity and transaction data to the State Revenue Agency. The amendment was approved with 149 votes in favor, zero against, and 10 abstentions. The parliament announced the passage of the tax and social security procedures bill during its second review on September 9.

Crypto.news reported that registered and licensed virtual asset service providers in Bulgaria must submit customers' names, addresses, birth dates, places of birth, tax residency jurisdictions, and tax identification numbers to the State Revenue Agency. The reporting requirement also includes information about each type of virtual asset involved in transactions, exchanges, or transfers conducted on behalf of clients.

The amendment reflects Bulgaria's implementation of European Union tax information sharing requirements into national legislation.
