Bybit Indonesia Supports Flood Recovery in North Sumatra and Aceh Regions

Bybit Indonesia has launched a community recovery initiative to support education and daily life restoration in regions affected by floods. The company announced on September 15 that it is collaborating with Kitabisa to aid flood-damaged areas in North Sumatra, following the November 2025 floods that impacted parts of Sumatra.

The support targets two schools in Langkat Regency and a water facility in Bali Panjang village, Aceh Biruen Regency. Bybit Indonesia, a locally regulated entity under OJK supervision, is working with Kitabisa, an Indonesian fundraising platform, on this project.

The initiative consists of three programs: restoring learning facilities at Rahman Elmanaf Partial Foundation School and SDN 057239 Sekoci in Langkat Regency; installing a well to restore water access for flood-affected residents in Bali Panjang village, Aceh Biruen Regency; and improving infrastructure such as flooring, classrooms, and essential teaching equipment.

Kitabisa Co-founder and CEO Vikra Ijas emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration and understanding local needs for community recovery. "We appreciate Bybit Indonesia's support in restoring school facilities in Langkat," he said. "This helps students and teachers return to regular learning activities and allows families to regain stability. Schools play a vital role in community life, requiring ongoing attention during recovery efforts."

Rahman Elmanaf Partial Foundation School serves approximately 187 students from elementary through high school, with 17 teachers. Located in Tanjung Pura Village, Langkat Regency, the area is vulnerable to tidal flooding. The school provides free education without additional fees for families engaged in fishing and agriculture.

SDN 057239 Sekoci also received support, benefiting about 90 students and 10 teachers after flood damage. Improvements included flooring, ceiling repairs, repainting, electrical installations, and maintenance of doors, windows, and ventilation systems. Additional spaces such as libraries and religious learning areas were also restored.

In Bali Panjang village, Aceh Biruen Regency's Julu District, a well project is underway from July 2026 to improve clean water access for over 400 residents across approximately 125 households. The initiative aims to restore daily needs like cooking, washing, and community activities.

Bybit Indonesia CEO Lawrence Samanta stated: "Education has been a key part of Bybit's journey in Indonesia and globally. We sought practical ways to support children needing safe learning spaces after the Sumatra floods and families requiring stable water access." He added that collaboration with Kitabisa enabled targeted aid delivery, expressing hope for continued community recovery.
