China-Laos Cross-Border Digital Payment Network Officially Launched

China and Laos have officially launched a cross-border digital payment network, expanding the overseas infrastructure for digital yuan payments. Foresight News reported that the mutual connection of the China-Laos border digital payment system has been formally activated. The two countries had previously worked to link the digital yuan payment platform with Laos' national payment network. In December 2025, the Bank of China conducted cross-border QR payments using digital yuan wallets in Laos, and in July 2026, it announced that the digital yuan cross-border payment infrastructure would operate across multiple countries and regions including Laos.
