Coinbase ($COIN) tokenized stocks accounted for about 7% of Base blockchain decentralized exchange (DEX) activity as of September 17. U.S. stock-linked tokens have become one of the primary trading assets in the Base ecosystem, according to CryptoBriefing.

The covered products include Nvidia Token (NVDAc), Apple Token (AAPLc), Meta Token (METAc), and Alphabet Token (GOOGLc). These tokens are designed to provide blockchain-based exposure to underlying U.S. stocks without the stocks themselves being listed on the blockchain. Instead, Coinbase holds the actual shares with a regulated custodian and issues corresponding tokens for trading.

The 7% figure represents the share of Base DEX activity related to Coinbase tokenized stocks, not the total assets in the Base ecosystem. The report notes that concentrated trading on specific exchanges or liquidity pools may yield different results than overall market size. High transaction volume alone does not indicate equivalent liquidity to traditional stock markets.

Base's official materials confirm that Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks are traded on Base, with users able to utilize them as collateral or liquidity provision assets in DEXs and lending protocols. This distinguishes tokenized stocks from conventional crypto-focused DEXs where tokens typically serve only for trading purposes.
