DeFi TVL Rises to $8.88B Amid Mixed Chain Performance

Decentralized finance (DeFi) market has reached a total value locked (TVL) of $8.88 billion, according to DeFi Llama data as of 2:15 PM KST on April 18. The weekly increase of approximately 2.6% follows last week's figure of $86.59 billion, though it remains down by about 22% compared to the year-start level of $114.39 billion.

Ethereum leads with a TVL of $50.36 billion (56.72%), followed by Solana ($5.97 billion), BSC ($5.66 billion), Base ($5.60 billion), and Tron ($5.43 billion). Weekly trends showed mixed performance, with Robinhood Chain (+5.84%) and Ethereum (+3.02%) rising while Plasma (-2.24%), Polygon (-2.02%), and Monad (-0.8%) declined.

In terms of protocol count, Ethereum hosts 1,853 protocols, followed by Arbitrum (1,033), Base (872), Polygon (721), and Solana (448). Daily active addresses remain at zero across all chains.

On the DeFi sector level, CEX accounts for $30.23 billion (highest share), followed by liquidity staking ($52.47 billion), bridges ($52.26 billion), and lending ($51.61 billion). The weekly trend saw a decline overall, with on-chain capital allocators (-3.37%) underperforming while bridges (+88.31%) and CDPs (+13%) showed resilience.

Protocol-wise, Lido leads at $24.13 billion, followed by Aave ($17.16 billion), SSV Network ($13.04 billion), Meme ($10.37 billion), and Binance Staked Ethereum ($9.21 billion). Over the week, Spark (+13%) and Meme (+7.98%) saw growth, while Aave (-0.34%) declined in TVL.
