Deutsche Bank Plans Bitcoin and Digital Asset Custody Services for European Institutions by End of 2026

Deutsche Bank has announced it will introduce Bitcoin (BTC) and digital asset custody services for European institutional and corporate clients by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory procedures. The bank disclosed its plans on the 16th regarding the development of digital asset custody services. Initial support will include Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), and select stablecoins such as USDC, EURC, and EURAU. Gerald Podobnik, co-head of Deutsche Bank's corporate banking division, stated that digital assets could serve as a complementary infrastructure to the existing financial system rather than replacing it. The bank plans to manage clients' wallets and private keys while enabling clients to transfer their holdings to third parties.
