DigitalX and Shinhan Bank Hold Joint Seminar to Strengthen Response to New Phishing Threats

DigitalX, the digital asset investment platform of Mirae Asset, announced it hosted a joint seminar with Shinhan Bank at the bank's headquarters in Seoul on October 15 to strengthen response capabilities against emerging phishing threats. This marks their second such collaboration since 2023.
The seminar was organized ahead of the implementation of a new anti-phishing framework jointly introduced by the Financial Services Commission and Financial Supervisory Service in June, aiming to bolster financial sector preparedness.
The new anti-phishing system targets emerging financial crimes exploiting investment scams and virtual assets. DigitalX is preparing its internal processes and systems to comply with the October 1, 2023, implementation of the framework.
Presentations and discussions focused on Shinhan Bank's anti-phishing measures and case studies, common phishing types faced by virtual asset businesses, and collaboration strategies for detecting fraud and preventing victimization. DigitalX's internal Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team and Fraud Detection System (FDS) operations participated in the seminar.
Recent advancements in financial crime tactics have highlighted the importance of seamless coordination between AML and FDS teams as a key factor in preventing financial fraud, according to DigitalX. The company stated that 'new phishing threats require collective action across the financial sector,' emphasizing their commitment to building an international-standard user protection system through close collaboration with banks and integrating AML and FDS systems.
