DigitalX and Shinhan Bank Host Seminar on New Phishing Countermeasures

DigitalX, the digital asset investment platform operated by Mirae Asset, announced it hosted a joint seminar with Shinhan Bank on October 15 at the bank's headquarters in Seoul to strengthen countermeasures against emerging phishing threats. This marks their second such collaboration following a similar event held in 2023.

The seminar was organized ahead of the implementation of new anti-phishing regulations jointly announced by the Financial Services Commission and Financial Supervisory Service in June, aiming to bolster financial sector preparedness. Participants shared practical response strategies for regulatory changes and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in preventing financial fraud.

Presentations covered Shinhan Bank's anti-phishing systems and key cases, common phishing types targeting virtual asset businesses and their countermeasures, and collaborative approaches for detecting and preventing financial fraud. Notably, this seminar included participation from DigitalX's internal Anti-Money Laundering (AML) organization and its Fraud Detection System (FDS), highlighting the growing importance of coordination between AML and FDS teams in combating increasingly sophisticated financial crime.

DigitalX is preparing to align its internal processes and systems with the new regulations set to take effect on October 1, 2023. The company plans to continue enhancing AML and FDS capabilities while expanding cooperation with financial institutions and regulatory bodies to strengthen its comprehensive fraud prevention system protecting users from money laundering and various financial scams.

A DigitalX representative stated: 'Emerging phishing threats require the entire financial sector to respond collectively. With financial authorities establishing institutional frameworks aligned with international standards, we will work closely with banks and ensure seamless integration between AML and FDS systems to build a user protection framework that meets global standards.'
