ECB Chief Without Authority Blocked Binance's EU Expansion... 'Dollar Stablecoin' Competition

European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde is reportedly involved in blocking Binance's European expansion through direct intervention, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The ECB has no authority to approve or reject virtual asset exchange licenses within the EU under current MiCA regulations. On Thursday (local time), WSJ reported that Lagarde conveyed her opposition to Binance’s Greek virtual asset business license application to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ office.
