ECB Seeks Businesses for Digital Euro Pilot Program Starting Late 2024

The European Central Bank (ECB) is seeking businesses involved in e-commerce and mobile commerce to participate in a 12-month digital euro pilot program beginning in the second half of 2024. According to CoinDesk, the trial will use a test alternative currency similar to but not legal tender like the digital euro for testing online and offline payments ahead of its official 2029 launch.
