Ethena Pay Expected to Launch in US and Europe Within 3-4 Weeks

Ethena Pay is expected to begin services in the United States, the UK, and Europe within approximately 3–4 weeks. While domestic markets are included in the planned rollout, no exact launch date has been disclosed. Guy Young, Ethena founder and CEO, stated during a recorded Unchained livestream interview on September 14 that "many new regions will go online in roughly 3–4 weeks." This comment clarified Ethena Pay's expansion timeline for the US and European markets.

Ethena Pay is a consumer financial application built on Ethena's synthetic dollar, USDe, offering remittance and payment features. The app launched on September 1, with initial services starting in 48 countries excluding the US and EU. Initial target regions included Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Kenya, the Philippines, Singapore, Japan, and the UAE.

The official Ethena Pay jurisdiction guide lists the US, EU, UK, Switzerland, Canada, Taiwan, and domestic markets as planned launch areas. Service timing depends on card partners' readiness. Guy Young explained that the schedule is determined by when partner companies, responsible for issuing and operating the Visa card through Third National and Rain, can provide products in each region.

Current terms prohibit US citizens and residents from using the card. Ethena announced on September 3 it planned to add US and EU support within September, though the jurisdiction guide still lists these regions as "planned launch." This suggests a delay compared to initial plans. Young noted that the US is not a top priority market for Ethena Pay, stating it doesn't rank among the top five markets they consider for their ultimate goals, with existing users primarily concentrated in South America and Asia.

Ethena Pay remains in a gated beta phase targeting limited users. Young described initial operations as "slow and controlled," emphasizing a cautious approach to expansion. As regional coverage grows, Ethena's ecosystem—previously centered on synthetic dollars—is expanding toward consumer payment points. However, actual availability will depend on regional card issuance conditions and service requirements.

Ethena Pay plans to gradually add countries, currencies, and features. Specific launch dates for the US, Europe, UK, and domestic markets will be announced after card partners finalize readiness and local conditions are met.
