Ethereum Layer1 Records Quarterly Transaction Highs in Q2 2026

Ethereum (ETH) Layer1 processed a record 23.9 million transactions in Q2 2026, marking a quarterly high. Average transactions per second (TPS) reached an all-time high of 25.9, while staking ratio and ETH holding addresses also hit historic highs. Token Terminal reported a 68.4% year-on-year increase in Ethereum Layer1 transaction volume compared to the same period last year.

The average TPS of 25.9 was calculated based on Layer1 metrics, indicating strong network performance both overall and during peak periods. However, monthly active users decreased by 30% to 9.2 million from the previous quarter, creating a divergence in network activity indicators as transaction volume and user numbers moved in opposite directions.

Network fees rose 31.6% quarter-on-quarter to $52.5 million (approximately 70.5 billion KRW), down 49.2% year-on-year but rebounding from the previous quarter. Burned ETH value increased by 112% quarter-on-quarter to $17.1 million (approximately 23 billion KRW), with both fees and burn amounts rising compared to the prior period.

The staking ratio reached a record high of 32%, reflecting more ETH being locked for network validation and security. The average number of ETH holding addresses rose 6.6% quarter-on-quarter and 27.4% year-on-year to 312.1 million, indicating expanding participation in the ecosystem.

Ethereum's tokenized asset value averaged $203.1 billion (approximately 27.28 trillion KRW), with stablecoins accounting for $176.8 billion (approximately 23.74 trillion KRW) and tokenized funds at $20.8 billion (approximately 2.79 trillion KRW). Despite record highs in transaction volume, TPS, staking ratio, and holding addresses, monthly active users declined in Q2 2026, with Token Terminal noting the mixed performance of key metrics.
