EU MiCA Registrations Show Bank Presence Surges to 23% in Crypto Sector

Registrations of banks under the European Union's crypto regulation MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) have surged, with banks now accounting for 23% of registered crypto service providers. According to CoinTelegraph, the number of banks listed as CASP (Crypto-Asset Service Providers) on the MiCA register increased from approximately 40 to 80 between June 26 and September 16, doubling over that period. Total registered CASPs rose from 243 to 349 during the same timeframe. Data shows that while non-bank providers' share decreased from about 84% at the end of June to 77% by September, bank representation grew from 17% to 23%. Media reports attribute this trend to faster European banking sector entry into crypto markets as MiCA's regulatory framework becomes established.
