Former LA County Police Officer Sentenced to 21 Months for Extorting Crypto Entrepreneur's Rival

Christopher Michael Cadman, a former Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officer, has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for conspiring to intimidate a cryptocurrency entrepreneur's competitor and assisting in false arrests.

The Los Angeles-area publication Patch reported that Cadman received his sentence on April 14 (local time), with the court also ordering him to pay $25,000 (approximately 3.368 million won) in restitution. Cadman admitted guilt to conspiracy to violate civil rights and false tax filings in August 2025.

The U.S. Department of Justice stated that Cadman worked on behalf of self-proclaimed cryptocurrency entrepreneur Adam Iza, threatening a competitor and later orchestrating traffic stops that led to the victim's arrest. Iza is charged federally with coercing his rival to send $25,000, and other former officers were also found guilty in related cases.
