French Authorities Arrest 5 Suspects in Cryptocurrency-Targeted Home Invasion

French gendarmes arrested five suspects accused of attempting to steal cryptocurrency assets through a home invasion and kidnapping. The incident occurred around midnight on March 14, 2026, when two masked individuals entered a residence in Haute-Savoie, binding a woman for hours and assaulting her. One suspect reportedly carried a knife and pressured the victim to provide access to her cryptocurrency holdings. French gendarmes deployed approximately 60 officers and soldiers across Paris, Isère, and Brittany from September 7-8 to apprehend the suspects. The victims were transported in their own vehicle but escaped with help from neighbors. Four of the five suspects have been charged, three remain in custody, and one is under judicial supervision.
