Google DeepMind Launches AGI Discussion Platform 'DeepMind Institute'

Google DeepMind has launched the 'DeepMind Institute,' a platform dedicated to addressing the technological and societal impacts of artificial general intelligence (AGI). In its official introduction, Google DeepMind stated that the institute aims to serve as an interdisciplinary research and discussion forum for understanding AGI's potential effects on society. Shane Legg, co-founder and chief AGI scientist at Google DeepMind, James Manyika, head of Research, Experimentation, Labs, Technology & Society, and Demis Hassabis, co-founder and chairman of the board, will lead the institute. The DeepMind Institute will advance interdisciplinary research, collaboration, and discussions on core technological and societal issues in the AGI era, with its findings and new perspectives to be shared publicly.
