Grayscale Adds XRP to New Advisory Portfolio at 26.11% Weight

Grayscale introduced an immediately deployable cryptocurrency allocation portfolio for financial advisors on Monday, with XRP (XRP) accounting for 26.11%. The token represents the second-largest weighting within the company's new digital asset NextGen model portfolio.

The model portfolio is a publicly disclosed investment approach where Grayscale selects assets and allocations, which advisors then apply to client accounts using the firm's exchange-traded funds at identical weights.

Within the NextGen model—which excludes Bitcoin and holds seven funds as of August 31—the top holdings are Ethereum (42.34%), XRP (26.11%), and Solana (21.09%). Hyperliquid, a blockchain-focused ETF listed in June, makes up 5.76% of the portfolio, while Chainlink, Avalance, and Suilink share the remaining allocation.

Grayscale limits any single asset to 40% and rebalances quarterly. Since the model launched on July 27, Ethereum has already exceeded this cap.

XRP trades near $1.42, up about 5% over the day, ranking fifth by market capitalization. However, Grayscale's XRP Trust ETF is down 38.51% from its listing price. BeInCrypto reported in August that the trust sold $180 million worth of tokens at a loss since年初, with six out of seven funds in the model trading below their listing prices.

The portfolio has generated a 30.69% net gain since July 27, driven by a strong August performance over five weeks, though other periods show no returns. Grayscale charges no additional fees for the model, with an average fee of 0.23% across the underlying funds.
