Hackers Demand $3 Million in XMR from Revolut After Italian Government Email Breach

Revolut, a fintech company, inadvertently disclosed some users' personal identification information (PII) after falling for a fake government agency request. Hackers have now demanded 6,000 XMR—worth approximately $3 million—from Revolut within 24 hours or face the sale of stolen customer data to criminal organizations, according to a Financial Times report.

Earlier, hackers had breached an Italian government agency's email account with legal authority and used it to request customer information from Revolut. As a result, the bank provided details for around 680 customer accounts, including passports, driver's licenses, identity photos, and transaction histories.
