Han Dong-hoon Calls for Delay in Digital Asset Taxation

Former People's Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon has called for the postponement of digital asset (cryptocurrency) taxation.

In a Facebook post on November 15, Han stated that digital asset taxation should be delayed. He noted that over the past two years, there have been repeated concerns about insufficient tax preparation. "Taxation should align with fairness where income exists, but the Yoon Suk-yeol administration is pushing for indiscriminate tax increases while abandoning tax principles," he said.

He also highlighted the risk of capital flight and difficulty in tracking transactions if taxation begins. Han warned that ordinary citizens using legitimate exchanges would be vulnerable to losing their assets through taxes. "Like in 2024, I will take action to stop this," he added.

Han had previously advocated for a postponement of digital asset taxation during his tenure as the People's Power Party leader in 2024, which led to a bipartisan agreement delaying implementation until 2027.
