Huawei's Ascend 960DT AI Chip to Launch Q1 2027, Ahead of Schedule

Huawei has revealed plans to release its next-generation AI chip, Ascend 960DT (Ascend 960DT), in Q1 2027. The company announced at the Huawei Connect 2026 event in Shanghai on the 17th that the launch date for Ascend 960DT has been moved up by three quarters compared to its original roadmap. The Ascend 960PR is scheduled for release in Q3 2027.
Reuters reported that Huawei lacks sufficient production capacity to meet domestic demand for AI computing equipment, leading to restrictions on overseas sales. Eric Xu, Huawei's rotating chairman, stated that the company does not plan to expand into international markets due to insufficient production capabilities to even satisfy domestic demand.
