JPMorgan Says Institutional Stablecoin Demand Still Early; Tether CEO Disputes

JPMorgan's co-president Doug Petno said on X that institutional demand for blockchain and stablecoins remains in its early stages. He noted there are no clear signs of institutional stablecoin demand outside of cryptocurrency trading, with interoperability, regulation, and KYC requirements cited as obstacles.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino countered the statement by comparing it to 'demand for importing ice from the Arctic,' implying such a need does not exist.
