Korean Won Weakens Against Dollar to 1,382.2 Won, Surpassing Last Year's Level

The won-dollar exchange rate closed at 1,382.2 won, up 13.6 won from the previous trading day, beginning to exceed last year's comparable level of 1,380.1 won. On September 17 in Seoul's foreign exchange market, the won-dollar rate recorded 1,382.2 won at the 3:30 p.m. close, up 13.6 won from the previous day's closing price. The session opened at 1,377.0 won, 8.4 won higher than the prior close. This marks six consecutive days of gains. Current rates are near this year's low of 1,336.1 won, having risen approximately 21% from the annual low point. The won-yuan exchange rate stood at 206.07 won, and the yen-to-won rate was recorded at 883 won per 100 yen on the same day.
