Lummis Says Clarity Act Negotiations 'Endless' Amid Key Vote

U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) said Democratic demands for additional amendments to the Clarity Act mean negotiations are ongoing and not concluded. CoinDesk reported that Lummis expressed uncertainty about securing the minimum 60 votes needed for the bill's advancement during Thursday's vote.

Lummis stated that 114 individual policy concessions have been made to accommodate Democratic demands, with the most significant provision being a restriction on personal business relationships between government officials and the virtual asset industry. She also expressed surprise at President Trump's agreement to further amend ethics restrictions for himself and other public officials.

The Clarity Act requires a minimum of 60 votes for passage in Thursday's vote, as reported by CoinDesk, which noted that Democrats remain dissatisfied with the bill's language.
