Lummis Says Democratic Demands Have Reached Negotiation Breaking Point

According to CoinDesk, Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis, who has led U.S. Senate cryptocurrency legislation, stated that negotiation momentum has hit a limit due to continuous demands from Democratic lawmakers for additional amendments to the proposed Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act). With a scheduled vote on the bill's procedural passage in the Senate imminent, Lummis revealed that despite submitting a final compromise including over 110 Democratic amendment requests and strengthening ethics provisions related to former President Trump, Democrats are still seeking further concessions. The Senator emphasized that 'further concessions are impossible' and this represents the best possible compromise, urging Democrats to support the bill in the upcoming vote. Passage of the legislation would clarify regulatory authority between the SEC and CFTC, while failure could prolong regulatory uncertainty for digital assets.
