Macron: US-Iran Agreement on Hormuz Strait Opening Unlikely in Short Term

French President Emmanuel Macron said it is difficult for the US and Iran to reach an agreement on reopening the Hormuz Strait in the near term. Speaking after meeting with political leaders on 18th, Macron noted that the Hormuz Strait is effectively blocked, making a short-term deal unlikely. The remarks were made public through the French presidential office.

Macron also stated that France supports discussions between Oman and Iran, and if an agreement is reached, France will support safe passage for tankers and container ships through the strait.
