MetaMask Introduces Auto-Revert Feature for EVM App Transactions

MetaMask has introduced an 'Added Protection' security feature that automatically reverts transactions when the simulation result of Ethereum and EVM app transactions differs from the actual execution outcome. The measure targets 'red pill attacks,' where malicious contracts behave differently during simulation versus actual execution. On July 17, MetaMask announced in its official blog that it will fix the simulation results as transaction conditions, and if the actual execution result varies, the transaction will be marked as failed. In such cases, users only bear network fees while their assets remain in their wallet. The feature is now available in extension version v13.45 for 13 EVM networks supporting EIP-7702 smart accounts, with plans to add it to mobile versions soon.
