MEXC Reports 130% Surge in Stock Futures Trading Volume in August Amid Semiconductor ETF Focus

According to data published by global cryptocurrency exchange MEXC on August TradFi product trading, stock, index, and ETF futures trading volume increased by 130% month-on-month, while tradable contracts rose by 35% to surpass 400. Tokenized stock and ETF spot trading volume also grew by 30% during the same period. In August's stock futures market, semiconductor and memory-related products saw significant growth, with five of the top 10 traded items based on memory and storage companies. The highest-volume product was SOXL futures, which track a U.S. semiconductor index daily three times leveraged, seeing a 1,192% month-on-month increase in volume. It accounted for 20% of total stock futures trading compared to under 4% in July. SOXS futures, which track the same index inversely three times daily, saw a 436% rise. Meanwhile, SPX500 futures tracking the S&P 500 index decreased by about 32%, showing increased demand for sector-specific products over broad market indices. Memory-related products also surged in spot trading: SK Hynix-linked futures rose 401% month-on-month, Micron (MU) increased by 267%, and Sandisk (SNDK) continued its upward trend. Other sectors saw growth too, with SpaceX (SPCX) and Tesla (TSLA) futures up 45% and 784% respectively. Tokenized stock and ETF spot trading volume rose 30% month-on-month, accounting for 73% of total TradFi spot trading in August compared to 63% in July. Trading increased across approximately 99% of listed stocks, with the top 10 items representing only 12% of total volume, indicating broader market participation rather than concentration on a few assets. Circle (CRCL) led with a 69% increase, while Coinbase (COIN) and Robinhood (HOOD) also made it to the top 10, collectively seeing a 47% rise in trading volume. Nebius (NBIS), an AI cloud infrastructure company, rose 188% to rank third, the highest among top 10 items. Nvidia (NVDA) increased by 54% to fifth place, showing expanding AI-related trading across semiconductors and cloud infrastructure.
