Support for a National Assembly petition calling for a two-year postponement of virtual asset (digital asset) taxation has surpassed 40,336 signatures, representing 81% of the required quorum of 50,000. The petition will be referred to a relevant committee if it meets the threshold by September 20. The proposal argues that implementing digital asset taxation could lead to a sharp decline in exchange revenues and subsequent government tax revenue losses. A previous petition advocating for the abolition of such taxes reached over 50,000 signatures in May, leading to its referral to a committee. While the government maintains plans to implement standard taxation starting January 2027, the People Power Party opposes this, citing insufficient infrastructure.
