OpenAI Forecasts $27.8 Billion Cash Flow Shortfall by 2030

OpenAI is projected to record a cumulative negative free cash flow of $27.8 billion (approximately 38.6 trillion won) from 2026 through the end of 2030, according to a report by Financial Times (FT). The FT cited an internal presentation prepared by OpenAI in July, which indicated that computing infrastructure investments would outpace revenue growth. The presentation forecasted OpenAI's revenue to rise from $3.6 billion in 2026 to $35 billion by 2030. Reuters reported that OpenAI is expanding its computing capacity investments for training and operating AI models, leading to the expected $27.8 billion negative free cash flow during this period.
